The UKCC1 Assistant Coach course (dates) provides an introduction to coaching and is aimed at those who might assist other coaches in running practice sessions.

Dinton Miss Out in Bucks Cup Final   16/09/07
Dinton lose in final of Bucks CupDinton lost out in the final of the Bucks Cup on September 15 to a strong Burnham side.
After just two overs Burnham were 28-0, but Dinton came back well thanks to Scott Bowler and at 44-4 Burnham were struggling. However, poor catching and the gifting of extras enabled them to post a challenging 212. Scott Bowler (capital 'B') ended as the pick of the bowlers (small 'b') with 4-41.
In reply Dinton were soon 4 wickets down. Ashley Smith and Mike Higgs pulled things together with a 59 partnership, and Mark Ludlow took over from Mike with a good 35. But when Ash was out for 66, to a smart caught & bowled, the game was up. Dinton were eventually all out for 159.

England vs South Africa, Friday September 14   14/09/07
England vs South Africa, Friday 14/9England vs South Africa, and it's a win for the better side by 30-something. 39 runs to be precise. That other game between the sides - rugby was it? - wasn't as important.
England 153 - 5, South Africa 114 - 11, even with a 'ringer'. Better luck next year lads...

Under 17s Lose in Final   10/09/07
The under 17s came up against an older and stronger Stokenchurch side on Sunday September 9, in the Bucks under 17 final. Choosing to bat first, Dinton were always in trouble and it took a resolute 27 from Mike Higgs and some stubbornness from Gen Cross to get to a score of 86 all out in the 20th over. In reply, Stokenchurch got off to a rapid start until Michael Anderson's double-wicket maiden reined things in. A couple of wickets later and the improbable was looking possible, but sensible batting saw Stokenchurch to a 6-wicket win in the 19th over.
Commiserations to the under 17s, but with seven under 15s and three under 16s in the side the target is there to aim for next year.
