Dinton's under 17s have won the Aylesbury District League title for three years in a row, but have failed in the last two years to go one step further by winning the Bucks under 17 play-off final. So we're all hoping it's third time lucky this year, as Dinton take on Mid-Bucks League winners Gerrards Cross at Dinton on Sunday morning, starting at 10am. Captain Kelvin Burrows and the team would be very grateful for your support. Good luck!
Also another chance to remind you that the junior awards presentations will take place from 6:30pm on Thursday September 3 at the ground.
Please spread the word.
The August Bank Holiday is approaching, which must mean that it's 6-a-side time. This year it's with a twist, as the competition will be for under 15s.Teams from Aston Rowant, Bledlow Village, Kimble, Long Marston, Thame Town and Wendover will join Dinton for the usual cricketing fireworks. The fun starts at 10am, with the aim of finishing the group matches ready for the final at 6pm. Paul Furness is in charge of selection, so if you would like to play in one of Dinton's two teams then please get in touch with Paul asap. To make this run as smoothly as possible we are looking for a few more volunteers, to umpire, help behind the bar, serve teas & coffees and to man the barbecue. If you can help at any time during the day then please give Mick a call or an email. Fingers crossed for fine weather!
The funeral will take place at Amersham Crematorium on Thursday August 13 at 1pm. In memory of Stuart the club will be installing a bench with a plaque at the ground. If you wish to make a contribution to this then please see Howard Scott. Any excess of contributions over the cost of the bench will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
The forecast is for more heavy rain later which, on top of the deluge that has already fallen today, has made the cancellation of both practice sessions this evening inevitable. Please see the story below regarding the remaining junior practice sessions in August and the junior awards presentation evening.
The 3rds match at Long Crendon vs Abingdon Vale this afternoon has been rained off.
Dinton's annual Academy Week is going brilliantly. Only in the last session on Wednesday did everyone need to retreat to the marquee to get out of the rain, which means that we've managed 11.5 dry sessions out of 12 so far!A reminder that there will be no junior practice on Thursday July 30 because of the Academy Week sleepover.
The match starts at 2pm at our Oxford Road ground. With a good crowd forecast, as ever the club would appreciate plenty of help from its members in running the bar, supervising parking etc. Good luck to Ash & the team, and fingers crossed for some fine weather!
